Highlight Photo GOV. EASLEY ANNOUNCES PLAN TO SAVE 20,000 HOMES FROM FORECLOSURE 7/1/2008
- Gov. Mike Easley called on the General Assembly to give quick approval to legislation that will help thousands of homeowners with exploitive subprime mortgages avoid foreclosure. The legislation requires that borrowers receive at least 45 days notice before foreclosure proceedings are started and directs the state Banking Commissioner to work with individual borrowers and their lenders to find ways to save their homes.

GOV. EASLEY ANNOUNCES 205 JOBS IN GRAHAM COUNTY 7/8/2008
Gov. Mike Easley announced today that Stanley Furniture, a leading employer in Graham County, will expand its Robbinsville plant, investing $1.5 million and adding 205 jobs during the next three years as well as saving 315 current jobs. The expansion was made possible in part by a $250,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund. full story...

GOV. EASLEY SIGNS BILL ON GANG PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION 7/8/2008
Gov. Mike Easley today announced he has signed into law Senate Bill 1358, "An act to adopt a strategic approach to prevent youth involvement in street gang activity and to be entitled the 'North Carolina Street Gang Prevention And Intervention Act.'" This new law requires the state Advisory Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention to review the level of gang activity in the state, develop community based intervention efforts, assess the progress and accomplishments of efforts to deal with juveniles who are involved with, or at risk of getting involved in, street gangs and make recommendations to reduce the level of gang activity in North Carolina. full story...
